My Story

My earliest memory of being drawn to woodworking was in my grandfather’s workshop when I was about 5 or 6. Whenever we visited I would sneak off to the shed to look at the tools and handle the timber. I remember the smell, the mystery of the various hand tools, and the fear of some of the bigger power tools that I wasn’t allowed to touch.

My grandfather was a carpenter, and although my father followed a different career he and my grandfather built our first family home together and had a small workshop too. I was introduced to building from a very young age I have always found my happy place making things with my hands.

I have been fortunate enough to follow this passion and to develop a successful career in the building industry. I have been working in this industry since I left school, initially as an apprentice carpenter and with more experience and further studies came supervisory and managerial positions.

Having obtained my full unrestricted builders license I founded Hamilton Projects Pty Ltd in 1993

This business has been the vehicle for me to participate in the planning, design, construction and management of many challenging and rewarding projects. Through this business I have made many enduring friendships, and I have partnered with several brilliant individuals to build business partnerships and remarkable projects for which I remain greatly appreciative of the experience gained.

Working in a collaborative relationship with talented designers and consultants, experienced and passionate tradesmen, and enthusiastic and motivated clients makes for a very rewarding experience. I truly believe that the project journey should be a positive and rewarding experience for all involved.  This is our culture and our approach to achieving outstanding outcomes on all our projects.

These days I don’t get to spend nearly enough time on the tools, but you will find me on site every day on all our projects. Close co-ordination and communication with all stakeholders is essential to achieving great outcomes, so I remain hands on in this business of building and project management – but the tools I most often use now are ones for communication.

I truly believe that the project journey should be a positive and rewarding experience for all involved.”
